My New EK4 Version 2 ..............
No park-run for my EK ........... well , it rained CATS & DOGS today yesterday afternoon , so no go for the park run.
Instead , at night I brought her home and ran her on the asphalt ......... she's really easy to start and idle. No problems whatsoever.
I think that TTR really worked out the bugs with that engine/carb. So , I guess these are the fruits of the earlier birthing
pains..................... .
AND the cordless power drill starting solution does NOT work with the new EK.
It can't get up to enough speed to get the engine started ............ or it could just be a bad battery on my 2 year old DRILL ................
Will bring the EK into the SHOP today to replace the crystals on the Radio , they supplied me the same frequency ones as on my DT-10 , so thats kind
of inconvenient.
I have to also look for a fuel filter to install on to the EK .... any recommendations ? I am kind of suprised that a car in this class would not come
with one installed already .......... of well.
To those EK owners out there , how do you prevent the body pins ( etc ) from breaking when running her hard , eg when she rolls ................... ?
Is a roll cage the only solution ?
Bye and safe runnings.

Pistole,
Here's a link for the fuel filter that I am using.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXAHE5&P=7
As far as the body posts go...some people have cut theirs in half, then slipped rubber tubing over the ends and put them back together. This allows
the posts to bend when the truck rolls.
I have have not personally tried this, but I heard that it works OK

You have the new V2 version? I thought those were not released yet? Where did you get it from?
About starting it with a drill, I would recommend a fully charged 14.4 volt or up drill to start a brand new .70

Version II
I bought her here in Malaysia , through the local Thunder Tiger dealer.
She's the one with New Cy.Head , through bolts on the g/boxes , etc , etc.
Anyhow , it is going fine.
Bye and safe runnings.

The Version 2 costs ..............
about USD$375-00 here , without Radio.
I got a SANWA BLAZER unit together with a better Receiver and High Torque (12kg) steering servo.
Running BLUE THUNDER (20%) fuel.
She's a beauty and easy to start and run.
Bye and safe runnings.

Has anybody tried this place? http://www.heli-kraft.com/ $425 US dollars shipped. If I
remeber correctly they were in Taiwan or Malaysia or something. Just FYI.....
Pistole, I checked my link, I guess MSN communities cancelled my pics or something. I'll have to get some new ones up.

Well .............
I will have to borrow my Father's digital camera to post some pics of my EK. So I will try to do that later.
I did try to post a pic of my DT 10 last time but was told something like "FILE TO LARGE".......... how do I get past this?
As for my EK , she's going fine ......... my Wife heard her the first time last night when I ran the EK out on the street in front of my home .....
and she said that the damn thing was WAY TOO LOUD.
I pinched the fuel filter from my DT 10 to use temporarily with the EK ( the DT is down due to the broken rear shock tower) and installed it. No
problems.
Do I really have to LOCKTITE everything?
Seems like I would have to go out and get a tube of BLUE and RED LOCKTITE , but looking at the sheer number of bolts and grub screws ..... aaugh.
The ENGINE runs really Cool with my DYNAMITE BLUE THUNDER (20%) fuel .... even after running it around a bit , the Cylinder Head can still be touched
( just ).
I will probably try to tune her in later to get her to wheelie ....... the Store set her slightly rich ( probably to ensure that I don't mess up the
Car ! ) after they had run her in for me. Should I lean out the HIGH SPEED NEEDLE only ? OR a combination of HIGH and MEDIUM needles?
And I had taken off the Air Cleaner to oil the foam slightly .... there is a aluminium sleeve in the throat of the composite carburettor that can be
removed. What is the purpose of this sleeve ? Is it to enhance the venturi effect ... since it seems to be a form of restrictor.
Your kind advice would be very much appreciated from all the EK experts out there.
Thanks and safe runnings.

This carb is new to us ! , I think you must have the first one off the production line
Even though this is a restricter it may help it run better , so leave it there for now !
When you save your pics be sure to save them as JPG files , this is smaller that bitmap

Hi y'all ................
I went to the Park today ........... and my Version 2 - EK was going GREAT ................. she's tuned slightly rich since its still relatively new
..... so lots of smoke when blipping the throttle.
It handles the undulating ground really well and THE SOUND is ASTOUNDING .............. acceleration is BOOM-BOOM.
I started by DT 10 ( its down due to broken rear shock tower ) just to warm it up and when I compare its 0.15 engine note to that of the EK's 0.70 ,
there is a marked difference... the EK is like a 2 stroke racing motorcycle's engine ......... the DT is like a buzz-saw.
But both the EK and the DT are really easy to start and idle.
I learnt to lightly oil the starter rod ball end of the EK in order to prevent BINDING when the same is coupled to start the 0.70 .... I noticed that
after the oiling , the shaft engages cleanly and without any binding at all.
I am going to head out to the park later today after work .... it is raining now ............ aaugh.
By the way , is an ELECTRONIC FAILSAFE a good investment ? I dropped by the STORE yesterday and they had some on sale ............ some expensive ,
some not so. Is there any difference between the brands ? The expensive ones are branded ( eg KO PROPO ) ......... the cheaper ones are just generic
brands. Do they all do the same job ?
I am looking at doing a Throttle Return Spring ........... but the set up is not conducive to attaching one .......... not like my DT.
I ran the EK a bit on the street yesterday ............ only later did I realise that I had not put on the battery cover on my transmitter after
disconnecting the TX from the charger ....... had the batteries fallen out when the EK was flying hard................ oh no.
Bye and safe runnings.
NB : I am just reposting this here ( I posted it earlier on the RCNITRO forum ) so as to reach as many expert
s out there as possible. Appreciate your help everyone.

Heli-Kraft is located on the Island of
Belize which is off the eastern coast of Mexico. I bought an engine from John not too long ago. You send him payment then he sends the order to his
distribution center in Taiwan. Shipping was $18.00 for an OS .50 and I had it from Taiwan to Massachusetts in 5 days!!!! Pretty good service if you
ask me!
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing it right!

V2 ..........
The kit I have is the EK4 S2 ( VERSION 2 ) and she is as it is right from the BOX , only the Radio has been installed by the Store here.
You can check out the new stuff that TTR have done to it in the Unlimited Forum , eg the new tall cylinder head , through bolts in both the Diffs ,
new starter assembly , etc , etc......
I ran her in the PARK today afternoon and it was HOT here .... my DT 10 is faster than the EK ( but the EK is not tuned up yet --- I am still waiting
patiently for that to be done later , ie the leaning of the high speed needle ).
No one knows anything about the NEW CARBURETTOR on my Version 2 ?
Thanks and safe runnings.

Dear Nitrocrushr..........
yes , the new carb is still a 3 needle set up .
Anyhow , my EK is going fine , no problems with starting , idling and/or running.
The weather here has been impossible , its raining almost everyday and so I am limited in my run time ....... I just do not want run my cars on wet
ground ... it ruins the car.
Bye and safe runnings.
